"We began our married life in 1960, two weeks after Jerry graduated from Case Institute of Technology (now part of Case-Western Reserve University) in Cleveland, Ohio where we grew up. I was studying Art at Western Reserve University. We had known each other since I was 11 years old and he was 13. We left for California right after the wedding and, as Jerry is fond of saying, "We never went back so we're still on our honeymoon!" We have two children and two grandchildren." Bev Praver

Whenever I hear someone out at the light talk about them it is always BevandJerry. One word. These fantastic people travel the world singing folk songs, acting as Town Criers, and representing the finest set of values you ever knew. They define "Gregarious" by talking to anyone and everyone. Our "Oral History" sections of research are infinitely better for their efforts.

Bev says, "Jerry and I wear many hats. For over 23 years we presented folk music programs in schools throughout the American Southwest, introducing students to American Folk Music and some of the instruments used to accompany the songs. We play 15 instruments between us including guitars, banjo, autoharp and lap dulcimer. After retiring from that career we became the official Town Criers of San Luis Obispo County, California in September 2000. Following the transfer of Piedras Blancas Light Station from the U.S. Coast Guard to the Bureau of Land Management we volunteered to do research regarding the history of the land and the light station. We are also members of the Board of Directors of the Cambria Historical Society."

The Rubarb Pie recipe is a good example. Imagine a keeper's wife walking out the door and over to the lee side of the point. She'd look over the stalks of Rhubarb growing there and select the best for her family. I've tried this recipe. If the rest of them are as good as this one, I'll need bigger pants.
