Using historic photos loaned to me from the Piedras Blancas Light Station files by John Bogacki, and observing the site from the coast north of the light station, I tried to paint the scene as it might have looked 100 years ago, with the Victorian buildings still in place. Distressing the watercolor paper first brought an aged character to the painting.
